German Chancellor Friedrich Merz began the second day of his China trip with a guided tour of Beijing’s Forbidden City, the former home of Chinese emperors.

Merz explored the historic site alongside journalists and officials before heading to the Mercedes-Benz Group AG plant in Beijing.

The tour is part of Merz’s first official visit to China, emphasizing partnership and dialogue between Germany and China amid ongoing trade discussions and efforts to reset bilateral relations.
